Romantic Country Estate Wedding

Romantic Country Estate Wedding

Summer of 2022 has been such a busy one, I have a backlog of gorgeous client photos to share! First up is the romantic country estate wedding of Christina and Tom, beautifully captured by Christina Brosnan Photography.

Christina and Tom travelled with family and friends from the US to host their wedding celebrations in the gorgeous surrounds of Powerscourt Estate and Gardens. They employed the talents of wedding planner Lindsay of House of Hannah Events, to style their day. Having worked with Lindsay on numerous weddings, it was a delight to collaborate with her in creating the wedding cake for this beautiful event.

Romantic Country Estate Wedding

It is easy to see why Christina and Tom chose their venue. Powerscourt Estate is a country house estate comprised of 47 acres of formal gardens, sweeping terraces, ornamental lakes and rambling walks. Overlooking the gardens is Powerscourt House, a Palladian mansion house which has exquisitely beautiful rooms available for weddings and private hire.

Powerscourt HouseThe Wedding Style

The classic beauty of the house and gardens was inspiration for the overall wedding palette and style. Shades of pale grey, reminiscent of the stone of the house, mixed with deeper navy, pretty pastels and opulent tones. The palette and style was exemplified in the exquisite stationery by Lenka Calligraphy. Flowers by Patsie and Co were romantic yet informal in style, exuding that air of just-picked freshness.

Following drinks overlooking the garden, the wedding reception was held in the grand ballroom of Powerscourt House. The styling by House of Hannah was a feast of elegant details. Navy linen was the backdrop for gold cutlery, pale grey textured dinnerware and menus, gold candleholders and informal floral arrangements by Patsie and Co. A simple pergola of foliage and flowers provided a gorgeous frame for the top table.

The Wedding Cake

The wedding cake design was very much in keeping with the romantic style. The 3-tiered cake featured a base tier of textured floral detail, as well as a pure edible gold leaf tier for a touch of opulence. A simple flower arrangement for the cake was provided by Patsie and Co. The cake was displayed in front of the grand doors opening into the ballroom, allowing guests to view the cake as they entered to dine.

Modern White Minimalist Wedding

Kathy and Conor Wedding

Modern White Minimalist Wedding

I am delighted to share some stunning imagery by Studio Lordan Photography of Kathy and Conor’s wedding from earlier this year.

The Wedding Style

Kathy and Conor’s modern white minimalist wedding in Kerry in early Spring was the epitome of how simplicity in styling can be breathtaking. From Kathy’s elegant bridal gown to the restrained floral decor by Harris and Wilkinson, it was beautifully relaxed and exquisitely stylish in equal measure.

The Wedding Reception

After their ceremony on Valentia Island, Kathy and Conor held their reception in the light and airy surroundings of Hogshead Golf Club in Waterville, Co. Kerry. Nestled between the Atlantic Ocean on one side and Lough Currane on the other, the venue is a modern space that maximised the stunning views of the Kerry wilderness.

The Details

In keeping with the white modern minimalist style, tables covered in white linen were simply decorated with delicate glass vases of flowers. A stunning cloud of gysophilia over the central bar area created a beautiful feature for the room.

The Wedding Cake

The wedding cake was of course all white. Tall tiers and linear modern texture added a modern feel, while a clear acrylic separator was in keeping with the light and airy space. The cake was finished with handcrafted sugar orchids to match the bridal bouquet. Simple vases of delicate flowers surrounding the cake show that styling doesn’t have to be fussy to be beautiful. And of course the best part as always was the flavour: a custom Lemon Drizzle Cake with Lemon Curd and Raspberry Conserve, perfectly light for a spring celebration.

Thank you to Kathy and Conor for sharing your beautiful day. It was a pleasure working with you and wishing you a lifetime of happiness together!

Real Wedding – Lauren and Graham

Lauren and Graham Wedding

Real Weddings

One of the highlights of working on weddings is receiving images from clients from their wedding day. After months of communication working on the details, it is delightful to see the cake in the context of the overall style of what is without doubt a joyous life event.

After covid changes of plan and postponements, clients Lauren and Graham finally celebrated their  wedding in summer 2021, with a sophisticated black tie affair in Dublin.  Lauren has a professional background in interiors, architecture and design, working as Creative Director of North Design.  It was unsurprising then that every detail of their wedding was considered, refined and stylish.  The day was exquisitely captured by talented photographers Adam and Grace Photography and I am honoured to receive some of their images to share.

The Wedding Reception

Lauren and Graham held their reception in the elegant and sophisticated surroundings of the Merrion Hotel in Dublin city centre. A collection of beautifully restored Georgian townhouses, the architecture and interiors of the fine reception rooms at the Merrion made the perfect setting for the intimate dinner reception.

The Wedding Cake

Lauren and Graham had a clear vision for their wedding cake: white, minimal and stylish. They chose a variation of a design from our portfolio which was finished in off-white chocolate ganache and decorated with delicate sails made from edible wafer paper and highlighted with edible gold leaf.

The cake took pride of place in the drinks reception area where guests could view it immediately on arrival. Surrounded by soft candlelight and lush florals and foliage, photographs of parents and grandparents wedding days added a personal touch to the cake table.

The cake flavour was two tiers of delicious Earl Grey Lavender Lemon. I love the concept of offering one flavour of your choosing to share with guests!

And you don’t often get to see the other side of the cake cutting photo but love this candid image of guests capturing the moment! (A reminder of how much people love a wedding cake I think!).

Thank you so much to Lauren and Graham for sharing these images. Congratulations to you both and wishing you a lifetime of happiness!
