Frequently Asked Questions

Yes, Cove Cake Design is registered with the HSE according to European Communities (Hygiene of Foodstuffs) Regulations 2006. We have also completed the Primary Course in the Principles and Practises of Food Safety.

We will collaborate with you on your wedding cake design via email and phone. As part of your wedding packages, you will be offered a wedding cake tasting via our luxury postal wedding cake tasting experience. This comprises our wedding cake flavour selection delivered to your chosen address for you to sample at leisure.

Unfortunately all of our cakes presently contain wheat, eggs and dairy. Whilst all do not contain nuts we do use nuts in our kitchen. We are currently working on a vegan menu…please ask!

In the interests of food safety we recommend using organic edible flowers for decoration of your cake. We work with an Irish supplier who can supply suitable blooms that can compliment your floral palette (dependent on seasonal availability) and we would can order and arrange these on your cake for you.  Many clients do however prefer to get their wedding florist to supply flowers for their cake for continuity. In this instance we recommend that the client consult with their florist on details of the flowers’ toxicity as not all flowers are suitable for placing on a cake. We are happy to advise on options for flower placement and the requirements for placing them on the cake such that if they are non-edible that they do not come into contact with the cake. Ultimately if a client uses their own florist the contract is between the florist and client and we cannot accept any responsibility for the flowers for the cake.

We advise that you check your order carefully and let us know within 7 days whether changes are needed. Your cake is very important to us and should you require any alterations after that period we will endeavour to do our best to accommodate them. If the alteration affects the cost, or if the preparatory work on your cake has already commenced, Cove Cake Design reserves the right to increase the quoted fee accordingly.

We love to collect gorgeous cake stands and have a variety which are available for hire at a cost of €20-€35 depending on size, plus a €75-€150 refundable security deposit (depending on stand) per stand. Cake stands are due to be returned within three working days of your wedding date upon which the security deposit is repaid in the absence of any damage.

When your cake is collected/delivered, we will issue you/your event coordinator with a cake information sheet which will detail storage and serving information to ensure your delicious cake is served to your guests at its very best.  To enjoy your cakes at their freshest, we recommend that they are consumed within 24 hours of delivery/collection.
